Fellowship in Microsurgery

Applications are invited for a full time Senior Clinical Fellow in
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
with an interest in Microsurgery. The post is available from ASAP and
is based at
Addenbrooke’s Hospital for twelve months.
You will join our team which includes thirteen consultant Plastic
Surgeons, three with a specialist
interest in Breast Reconstruction, three with a specialist interest in
Head and Neck reconstruction
(including surgery for facial palsy) and two with a special interest
in lower limb reconstruction.
You will be expected to be involved in the vast majority of
microsurgical procedures carried out by
this department, and to take on greater levels of responsibility (and
procedures of greater
complexity) as the post progresses.
You will be asked to support the general Plastic Surgery service
(including the management of
complex trauma.) You will be expected to contribute to departmental
activity including the training
of junior staff and allied professionals, research, and clinical
audit. You will be given an excellent
opportunity to further your skills and potentially become a leader in
the field of microsurgical
reconstruction. There is no out of hours commitment expected with this
post.
This post would best suit a senior trainee who holds a CCT and wishes
to maximise their
microsurgical experience prior to obtaining a definitive consultant
post. Applicants must have
demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in
English that enable effective
communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as
set out in the GMC’s Good
Medical Practice (2013).
