Aesthetic Fellowships at The Wellington Hospital available
Applications are now open for 2016.

HCA Hospitals are delighted to be able to offer these exciting opportunities to join us at The Wellington Hospital, a world class facility. Joining the London Plastic Surgery Unit and mentored by our team of 10 Consultant Plastic Surgeons throughout a three-month Fellowship contract, you’ll have the opportunity to build experience in every aspect of contemporary aesthetic surgery, from pre-operative assessment, to operative treatment and post-operative care.

These posts suit Trainees at ST8 & ST9 level, and applicants should have obtained the FRCS (Plast) exam or equivalent, aswell as being licensed to practice, and having current valid GMC registration.

In addition, you will have a clear patient-first ethos and strong communication skills. These posts have educational approval, and research and audit is encouraged.

Each Fellowship is set to begin 1st January 2016, 1st April 2016, 1st July 2016 and 1st October 2016.

Fellowship in Paediatric Plastic Surgery, Sydney, Australia

Expressions of interest are sought for Fellowships in Paediatric Plastic Surgery at Westmead Children's Hospital in Sydney Australia. 

Six and 12 month terms available. The Fellowship offers exposure to cleft, craniofacial, hand surgery, vascular anomalies and trauma reconstruction.

Edinburgh Basic Microsurgical Skills (BMS) Course

Overview:

The aim of this course is to provide delegates with an introduction to skills in microsurgery and its applications, including practical skills in basic microsurgical technique and arterial and venous anastomosis. Candidates will be formally assessed throughout the course with a competition and prizes in the final session.

SALARY SCALE: £37,176 - £69,325 for 10 PA s
HOURS: 10.5 Programmed Activities (PAs) (equating to 40 hours per week). No on-call requirement although will include a 1 in 4 Saturday trauma list. 10.5 PA s is split into 9.5 Direct Clinical Care and 1 Supporting Professional Activity*

BASE: Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead and the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton) travelling to the Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath as part of the post based at BSUH.

These new posts are for practitioners specialising in Plastic Surgery who have experience of trauma. The posts offer an exciting opportunity to develop and enhance the postholder’s skills for managing Major Plastic Surgery Trauma, and as such will be divided between the Major Trauma Centre (MTC) at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals (BSUH) NHS Trust and Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (QVH), East Grinstead, where the Plastic Surgery Department is based.
The Fellow will primarily be based at each site for six months and will participate in a 1 in 4 rota to support the Saturday trauma list at Queen Victoria Hospital throughout the whole twelve month period. It is anticipated that the post holder will be in the later years of training, and will, therefore, be part of the senior clinical team. The Fellow will work closely with Plastic Surgery Consultants and the trauma team in the provision of the trauma service at both sites.

Position Profile: The Plastic Surgery Department is currently seeking a suitably qualified Fellow in
Plastic Surgery to undertake inpatient and outpatient plastic surgery care including Telehealth
service as instructed and supervised. In this role you will be required to provide an on-call service,
educate and train all multidisciplinary staff involved in care of any patient, which will be an
important aspect of this role. You will undertake hand surgery, facial surgery, microvascular
reconstructive surgery, elective breast surgery, head and neck reconstructive surgery and skin
cancer surgery.
