Clinical Research Fellow in Plastic Surgery / Resident Medical Officer


Location: Brighton & Hove
Start Date: from February 2014

Duties
Applications are invited for a full-time post for 1-2 years to undertake clinical research leading to an MSc / MD / PhD.

The work will involve the development of objective assessment tools in the evaluation of treatments for facial palsy. It is expected that the work will contribute to a higher degree. The Post will commence from May 2013

The Research
The candidates will join a suite of projects developing novel objective assessment tools to evaluate the outcomes of facial palsy treatments. 

Salary
£40,000- £52,000 depending on grade & experience.


Other Responsibilities
  • To provide qualified medical cover for private patients 24 hours per day on a week on/ week off rota basis. 
  • To ensure that high standards of patient care are maintained at all time in accordance with agreed operational policies, as a skilled member of the hospital team. 

Skills
  • Minimum equivalent experience as a 2nd year Senior House Officer 
  • Up to date knowledge in acute medicine/surgery
  • Must have undertaken an orthopaedic post 
  • Up to date life support training
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Computer literate 
  • Attendance of mandatory training sessions 

Environment
The newly built hospital provides accommodation during the RMO period. The hospital has 20 in-patient beds and 3 operating theatres. 

Qualifications 
The post holder will be expected to have experience in producing academic publications and audit.

Locum Consultant Post in Belfast

A consultant with a special interest in Breast reconstruction and Burns, with burns reconstruction is on leave for 4 months from oct/nov 2013 and a locum is required.

Ideally the candidate should be within 6 months of CCT and be post FRCS(PLAST).

There would be the opportunity for independent practice with a nominated supervisor.

There would be a requirement that all occupational health and access checks are up to date with the current employer.

Clinical Cosmetic and Reconstructive EXPO, London Olympia, 11th October - Free places available.



The RCSEng has been awarded 50 free places to attend the Clinical Cosmetic and Reconstructive EXPO at London Olympia on Friday 11th October. The places include entry to all sessions on the Friday and lunch. Throughout the day there will be parallel sessions running on Reconstructive Surgery, Cosmetic Surgery and Non-Surgical Discussions.
